Lessons from Life

Sunday I had the privilege to install Pastor Ken Pell as Pastor of Broken Arrow First Church. Ken and Vickie have previously served in NEO at Tulsa Faith and Miami and it was good to welcome them home. Ken preached a great message, “Lessons From Life”, sharing five principles that define for him what it means to be a Christian and what it means to do ministry:

1.     God did not call me to be comfortable, but to be faithful.
2.     What God’s Word says you must do God knows you can do.
3.     The resurrection changes everything.
4.     When you gave your life to Christ you gave it to the world.
5.     Change is inevitable; growth is optional.

What are your life principles?

The Oklahoma Districts of the Church of the Nazarene have begun the process of organizing a Disaster Relief program.  This program is in its infancy and to get started, Brian Loderhose has coordinated with the Baptist Disaster Relief to bring their chain saw trailer to Broken Arrow and give us a tour as well as instruction.  We will meet at 8:30am, cut a few small trees on our District property at Albany street east of Lynn Lane, organize, and talk about our own trailer and the opportunity to help others.

If you can be a part of this training Saturday or have questions, email or call Brian (918) 520-1361.  Bring gloves, wear boots, and dress appropriately for the weather.

The USA/Canada Regional Office announced that Kansas City, Missouri, will host Mission 2015 (M15), the region's mid-quadrennial conference. M15 is the region's largest all-church gathering between general assemblies and will take place February 9 through 11, 2015. The conference theme, "Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future," will set the trajectory for the event.

M15 planners would like the input of pastors, church leaders, educators, and laity as they begin preparation for the conference. A brief M15 survey can be accessed online or through the M15 Facebook site.

David Stevens, Vinita. . . A year ago I was celebrating the calling of one of our young men into the ministry. He has grown tremendously and has been used tremendously by the Lord. This year I celebrate that God has provided for a Youth Pastor and a Children’s Pastor. Casey Hollingsworth, Miami New Life. . . Our college ministry "The Well" is making a difference!  Had several more college age students attend our last event.  Most in attendance came forward at the end of the service in response to the spoken message.  We trust that the Holy Spirit will continue to empower this outreach ministry!

The Northwest Zone Pastors enjoyed an evening together. What a fun group!
