Homecoming 2012

Dear NEO family,

It was such a joy to gather as a District Family for Homecoming 2012. Our speakers – Dr. Mark Lail, Dr. Stan Toler and Dr. Daniel Ketchum – were outstanding. The Pastor’s reports were encouraging and fun! The Ordination Service was well attended and inspirational. Our NMI and NYI Councils planned meaningful conventions and service opportunities.

We are always looking for ways to improve our District events! As you consider the School of Stewardship, Ordination Service, Assembly, and NMI and NYI Conventions:

1.  What are two things about Homecoming 2012 that
      you particularly appreciated?

2.  What are two suggestions for improvement?

I would love to hear from you! Send your ideas to dmckellips@neonaz.com

Horton Chapel has unanimously called Rev. John Hazelton to be their pastor. This rural church is transitioning into a “Country Casual Church of the Nazarene”

Pray for Cleveland, Broken Arrow First, and Family Church as they are searching for pastors. Cleveland is interviewing a candidate June 23 and 24.

May Statistical Leaders

I Want to Celebrate. . .

David Stevens, Vinita. . .   A family that had dropped out a few years ago had some serious relationship problems. Although I was not able to counsel them directly, I gave what advice I could. God moved in their lives and the family is together, and have been in Church the last 4 Sundays. We must be patient and wait on God’s Spirit to move in our ministry to people.  One year ago I mentioned eye surgery. My eyes are almost completely back to normal.

Jim Thornton, Tulsa Hills. . .
·We are privileged to welcome those from SoCo who have chosen to merge ministry efforts with the THC family.
·Jon Goss is off to a great start as our summer youth intern.
·Currently preaching a series titled “Changed”.  It is pretty much some old school Naz doctrines with a new label.  But the folks are really responding well.  God is good.
·Attendance has been on the rise even before the SoCo merger.  Visitors just keep coming.
·14 people on the platform just for praise team on Sunday

Joel Heid, Dewey. . . Two baptisms.  One was a believer who wanted to be baptized (my 12 year old son) and one was a new believer of recent weeks.  We rejoice in the work of God’s Spirit as we continue to pray.

Brad Farnsworth, Connection. . . 618 Prayer on Wednesday doing well; Project Reach Team going into neighborhood around GCEC to contact people once a month during our worship service.

Don Engie, Grove Lakewood. . . God is developing a strong core group here in Grove. We have seen God develop great fruit in the lives of people here. A couple who have been here in the church a long time, have begun to ask again –“What does God want me to do for Him now…?” A couple, whose husband came to Christ, has become a part of our core group – and will go through membership class this month. This is the first family we have seen come to the church, grow, surrender completely to Christ – and now want to be about the mission He has called us to! I also want to celebrate the way God has brought a strong team together leading the people to be about reaching the lost here in Grove. God has led not only my good friend Robert McLemore here as Associate Pastor, but also Cassondra Eyster – who will be here in late June-, to serve as Family Pastor. Thank you for your prayers and support.

Claude Guy, Sand Springs. . . Participation of the full board in Church leadership training for our church action plan.

Scott Behm, Chelsea. . . That the Resurrected Lord, the Spirit of Christ is alive and making a difference in Chelsea, Ok.  We were honored to have Dr. Dave and Gloria McKellips come and share the word of God with us.  Joan and Fred Hemphill also celebrated their 62-wedding anniversary on that day.  Our congregation celebrated with Bill Reynolds for his 94th Birthday, and Bill still attends church most every Sunday.

We are blessed with the wonderful worship music leadership provided by Linda, Jana, Stacy, Amber and the entire Couch family.  We continue to pray on behalf of our congregation, for the healing touch of the Lord for those who are ill, for the families, marriages, and that the Grace of the Lord draw nearby bringing His salvation upon those who are eternally lost as the Spirit so moves.

Carl Brown, Hominy. . . We are starting a new “Mustard Seed Sunday School Drive” reaching out to the community with love and faith. Matthew 17:20 says “With faith the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains”. We believe that this next year we will see mountains move and lives saved. We are excited about what God is getting ready to do in Hominy. We celebrate God’s wonderful love.
